An extraordinary talent…

-Luis Alfaro, Center Theatre Group

Janet has enjoyed a multi-faceted career that includes acting, voiceover, screenwriting, and teaching high school theatre.  Happily, she’s found that the green room, the classroom, and the writer’s room have plenty in common, and feels lucky to have spent time in all three. While raising her daughter, she taught full-time.  Now the proud mom of a classical violinist, she is thrilled to be performing again.

A graduate of Oberlin College and The Drama Studio in London, Janet threw punches at her future husband in her first Off-Broadway show at Playwrights Horizons. Upon moving Los Angeles, she guest-starred on top shows like Pretty Little Liars, shared the screen with Lawrence Fishburne on film, and starred in many award-winning Indies, shorts and West Coast stage premieres.

Inspired by her students at a girls continuation school in East L.A., Janet wrote and performed The Ramona Roses, a solo play hailed as “exuberant and hilarious” by Daily Variety.  She also co-wrote the feature film Bellyfruit, starring Michael Peña.

A busy voiceover artist as well, she got her start playing a yenta opposite showbiz legend Carl Reiner on NPR. These days, she can be heard on commercials, video games, narrative podcasts, and audiobooks.

In her free time, Janet loves to dance, garden, travel, most recently to Iceland!
